Death Is Part of Life

At the age of 31, Japanese poet Miyata Minori was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her left breast removed in 2002 and in 2003, when she was informed that she didn't have long to live, she contacted photographer Araki Nobuyoshi and requested nude pictures of herself to be taken and published.

Miyata Minori commented:

"There is only one reason that I wanted my nude pictures to be taken. I wanted to let the whole world knows that even though I've lost part of my body, I am still a human. I am proud of all the scars left on my body, and all the pain and sadness I've been through. In other words, I hope my experience would give people the courage to keep on going in the journey of life."

My thought is: Death is not the opposite of life, but it is PART OF life. Only when we accept the destiny, we can enjoy the real freedom.

I hope you find this blog entry inspiring!

Million Dollar View

Special Christmas gift for all the readers of my blog... sorry it's not something tangible, but I took pictures from "Paritai Road" in Orakei, Auckland. This road is reported to be the RICHEST street of New Zealand because some art collectors are living there :) Lots of the houses on this street costs more several millions New Zealand Dollars... but the view is indeed stunning. All the good parts of Auckland is fit into a small photo frame :) Isn't the second photo artistic, haha :)

Paradise Beach

If you ask an Aucklander to recommend a beach to visit, I think the answers you are likely to get would be either "Piha" or "Mission Bay"...

I found "Whatipu Beach" completely by luck while I was driving around with friends.. this beach is truly a hidden germ, you'll need to drive through unpaved paths in order to get there :)

It's about 1 hour away from Auckland. Below are pix of Whatipu Beach!

See You On The Other Side!

Last year on 5th December, I lost one of my dearest friends.

Now it's 4 am on 5th December 2006. I am sitting in front of the computer, trying to put down my thoughts in words...

J, just to let you know that I miss you! Sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed a friend the most... I know sooner or later we'll catch up again, and you know you are not alone. See you on the other side!

With kisses,

PJ

Christmas Lights on Franklin Road

For the past 14 years, most of the houses on Franklin Road, Ponsonby Auckland have been putting up fancy x'mas lights during the holiday season. Their creativity and efforts attract hundreds of thousands of sightseers from all over Auckland.

If you are in Auckland, the Lights-On ceremony is tomorrow, 2 December 2006 at 8pm. If you are not here, maybe you can check it on Google Earth? :D
