HSBC Private Bank declines evidence call

(Source: Business Times, 6 Mar 09 - HSBC Private Bank declines evidence call)

Just an update for my friends and blog readers...

After my days on the witness stand
The 5 bankers were scheduled to testify

All of a sudden, they declined to give evidences

My heart sank
Because one of the things I ever wanted is to hear the truth from them

I am perplexed
As I'll never get to know what really happened

I am disappointed
As the picture will never be complete

I am confused
Does truth alone triumph?...
Will the truth ever see the light?...

HSBC Private Bank declines evidence call
By CHEW XIANG
HSBC Private Bank yesterday declined to call evidence in a High Court case in which it is being sued by a Taiwan family for forcing them to close a forex trade.
The plantiffs-Huang Po Jen, now a citizen of New Zealand; his mother Chen Ling San; and his grandmother Chen Cheng Su Yun-allege that HSBC had forced them in 2004 to close a forex trade on their US$24million investment account, which caused them to suffer losses and deprived them of potential profits.
They are claiming S$3million from HSBC. The trial began on Monday and HSBC witnesses, including the present chief executive of HSBC Private Bank Jimmy So, were scheduled to appear in court from yesterday to next Thursday.
Other defence witnesses include Alex See, who had been Mr Huang's relationship manager, and Joanne Lee, then a forex trader.
The move means that HSBC will not be calling any evidence at all, and that the judge, Justice Belinda Ang, will have to decide based on the evidence already produced by the plantiffs.

PJ, those people are hiding because they can't stand being examined and having their lies exposed. Hang in there, I believe it's clear to everyone why they are doing this.

It would be very unfair if they can do this to their clients and get away with it so easily. I believe the law in Singapore won't allow it.
I hope this time the good guy wins.

Don't give up, PJ. The reason why they didn't testify is because they are not honest people - they would rather cower away and hide instead of facing the music. You are a much stronger man than any of them are. Much love to you, bro.
