Les Mills BodyAttack 71 Filming

There's something special about Les Mills BodyAttack 71, as two people choreographed this release - Lisa and the baby inside her belly! :) Lisa if you are reading this, did you consult the baby regarding the song selection and chorrey? Why is BA71 so awesome, that I still can't get enough after trying it with you for 2 months?

Another hit from this round of filmings, BA71 features a strong team - Lisa, Fred (Canada), Fabio (Portugal), Grant and the lovely June! Also we have a special guest who was featured in a couple of tracks - Kendall from the US!

Ok something about BA71... the monatomic T1, alpha male T2, T3 with the attitude, sporty T4, T6 that will stay in your head, a soccer + disco feel T7, kicking hard T8 and a T9 full of fantasy..!

Les Mills BodyPump 76 Filming

Les Mills BodyPump 76 is now in the can!! I was totally blown away by this release - I am starting to have doubts if Glen will be able to come up with anything awesome-er to top this release, but I won't underestimate his magic.. :) The stand out tracks for me were the squat, back, tricep, bicep and the shoulder track.

The catchy melody and strong beats of the squat makes the intense workout fun - didn't even notice my legs were sore as I was enjoying it so much.

Watch for the new combo in the back track.

I am sure everyone will be singing to this tricep track - it will remind you of your first time.. :)

For the bicep track, special shoutout to the lovely Emma Barry - watch how she teaches this track when you get to see this release, the queen of darkness will set you on fire! (by the way you look better without the make-up, oops!) Emma you are such an inspiration and a legend in the fitness industry. She's awesome both on and off stage... check out her Saturday regular BP class at 5:10pm @ Les Mills Auckland if you happen to be in town.

The shoulder track is my fav song of this release... it reminds me of all the good time I've had... no one can take the memories away from me and no matter how difficult life may be, I'll always have something to hold onto...

Loved this release from the beginning to the end... on top of that you'll see a strong team presenting this amazing release to you! Please look forward to the DVD - they'll also be showcasing a new line of Les Mills Clothing.

Sorry due to some personal issues I didn't take any pictures for this filming, but I'll steal a couple pix from my friend Amir - the first two were taken in one of the rehersal classes and the last one with Glen, Amir and Susan was taken at the end of the filming.

Les Mills BodyAttack 70 Filming

What a night! still feeling the buzz and still on Attack high few hours after BA70 filming! I wasn't feeling too well today and was about to give the filming a miss, but Lisa Osborne's smiles came into my head and her energy inspired me... remember Lisa kept attacking even few weeks prior to giving birth!... so as a male I can't find s better excuse to miss a great experience... :)

Turned out to be the right decision... energy went through the roof, everyone was smiling and Lisa showed her appreciation not only to the internationals but also the local members. I felt that we are there just because of our passion for the fitness... isn't this what fitness is about? Defnitely one of the best filming experiences during my time at LM Auckland.. :)

BA70 - Welcome to the fitness battlefield, filled with peace and love! This is another great workout that will guarantee the result. BA70 is full of fun and the class just ends too quickly, leaving you wanting more! Lots of great tunes that you can sing along to, creative combos (which was refined extensively during the weeks of trials) and most imporantly there are two tracks which allow you to throw in some BodyCombat options!!! watch out attackers, we are comming after you.. guards up and drive those knees! (kidding :))

Les Mills BodyCombat 45 Filming

Another great release delivered by the beloved Dan & Rach - BC45 focuses on the kicks and the footworks; for example if you don't already know when executing the frontkicks, you got to kick with the ball of the foot, this release is likely to put you in the right direction. If you don't know how to balance your bodyweight when kicking and how to control your kicks, you might also learn in this release!

Special shoutout to presenter Shaz from Australia, she adapted well and marked great improvement since her arrival. Great job Shaz!

This time for the BC filming only, the "first timers" (and those who pretended to be) got the priority to choose where they want to stand, so the front row was quickly filled up with the "new faces". A tip for the new filming participants - if you want to stand in the front row, you might want to come a week earlier to get a flavor of the new release and familiarise yourself with the choreography (especially for programs like BC that features dynamic movements), so at least you know which direction we are moving towards to in certain tracks.

The reason I bring this up is for example if the front row doesn't shuffle forward when the people behind them are doing so, there will be "safety issues" - I got squashed when the guy standing in front of me didn't want to shuffle forward and person behind then bumped into me. Also by having more practices you'll learn the right techniques... i.e. when executing a certain kick, you don't move backwards... my toe was destroyed today when someone stepped on my foot.

Remember that safety shall never be compromised no matter what rules you want to apply. Filmings are not for showing off yourself... the spot light will always be on the presenters... it will be great if you can learn something from this experience...

P.S sorry there will not be an update for BodyPump 75 as my camera man didn't manage to take any pictures after the filming finished.. Sheldon and Margo were awesome, Glen is the man who came up with the best lunge track ever..!

Les Mills BodyCombat 43 Filming

Ying and Yang, bad and good, pirates and samurai and boys and girls.... it's time for another new BC release! BC43 emphasises the contrast between the properties and the moves, and you'll find these in the tracks - such as combinations of power and speed moves (lots to be seen in T3 and T8), katas and explosive combos (i.e T2 and T6), snapping / grapping moves as well as travelling sequences (T4 & T7). You'll be needing more oxygen after a BC43 class!

Dan, Rach, Hernan, Oscar, Judy and Marcus were in the spot light this time and they did an amazing job. Good to have Oscar the combat machine back in Auckland, and the lovely Judy showed us how a true fighter could be found in a beautiful girl like her! Hernan you are the Capitan Concha and good to see you on stage again, you work so hard and you deserve everything you have!

BA68 is amazing and I'll say that again and again... where does Lisa get all the ideas about music and choreography??? Lisa you are an inspiration for everyone... since you arrived in NZ, everytime I am in your class I can be myself and enjoy every moment with you... isn't it what the fitness class is about?! You are my No. 1 :)

Instructors all over the world, get ready to practice a few moves... such as "evacuate", "killing me", "birthday cake", "freedom arms", and "keep fighting" jabs and uppers! :) such a pity we didn't get to much of these in the filmings, but I am sure your members will love it if you do! The rugby themed agility track is packed with fun and will take your fitness to the next level. Special shoutout to Brent from USA, awesome job, you rocked!

My apologies to the attackers - I couldn't get more pictures because the team had to re-take parts of track 2 at the end of the filming and they got off stage quickly after that....

This is an awesome and challenging release by master Glen, probably the most challenging one in recent BP releases! I love this release so much and I can't wait to do it every night... so every night is gonna be a good night? :)

The strong BP team consists of people from four corners of the world - we have Glen fron land of hobbits, Susan from Kemeu, Sara from Spain, Cesar from Argentina and Yannick from France. Sara, Cesar and Yannick all did an awesome job in teaching in English, hope to see them again in Auckland one day.

Les Mills strictly prohibits cameras during the filmings so the pictures were all taken when the filming has finished.

Balance was the last session of the day and I totally enjoyed all the filmings today...!! The new BB release was great with the music selection and the motivating cues from the presenters...

I really love seeing Kylie Gates around, there's something special about her! Everyone can be smiley and friendly but Kylie is such a genuine and organic person... you can tell that she smiles from her heart. One of the nicest people you could ever meet...!

BC42 is heavily influenced by Muay Thai, as well as other martial art styles. I especially enjoyed T6, T7 and T8. Watch out for the direction changes in T6...! For me the highlight of the release is seeing my friend Angel Santiago being on stage. I've been looking forward to seeing him in NZ for a long time. Pernilla from Sweden is also very sweet, wish we had more time to catch up...

The other side of the window

This is a photoshot from the hotel room I stayed at in Singapore. I was waiting to step into the world on the other side of the window after the lawsuit was over.

However at this moment, I am still being left here; the darkness erodes and the rotten air penetrates through my skin... But nothing matters anymore. Because I know when I close my eyes, I can see the ideal world that we all imagined it to be. It's a world that values such as trust and justice wouldn't be dispensed. People would advocate the truth and the good, but not lies and the evil. We would always face the truth, and would never turn away from it.

Life is what I lost, and life is what I will never get back. I know it's crazy not to be crazy after going through the 5 years torture, but there's a reason why I am still standing here. I need to make the best use of what's left in me to warn the world, so no more victims will have to go through what happened to me.

As time goes by, I am getting closer to the goal.

Given the GFX, the filmings were schedueld in the morning which crashes with my personal schedule... therefore I only made it to the BC filming... it's a pity that I didn't get to participate the filmings for other programs but I love the new BA, BP and BJ release. Dear blog readers, this blog entry has been the most difficult one for me to compose.

The legal battle has been a long and lonely journey. I've been warned many times that this is an impossible fight, and that the tale of David and Goliath doesn't exist in the real world. This seems to be proven correct - today the Supreme Court of Singapore found in HSBC Private Bank's favor.

It's disheartening as I had nothing but the truth. However I do not regret fighting for my rights and believing in justice, and I intend to keep on fighting by taking the case to the next step.

Your support has been the source of my strength, I'd be grateful if you could continue to offer your help and support.

P.S. It's a difficult time for me... so please kindly understand if you don't see as many smiles on my face as you used to see...

HSBC Private Bank declines evidence call

HSBC Private Bank yesterday declined to call evidence in a High Court case in which it is being sued by a Taiwan family for forcing them to close a forex trade.
The plantiffs-Huang Po Jen, now a citizen of New Zealand; his mother Chen Ling San; and his grandmother Chen Cheng Su Yun-allege that HSBC had forced them in 2004 to close a forex trade on their US$24million investment account, which caused them to suffer losses and deprived them of potential profits.
They are claiming S$3million from HSBC. The trial began on Monday and HSBC witnesses, including the present chief executive of HSBC Private Bank Jimmy So, were scheduled to appear in court from yesterday to next Thursday.
Other defence witnesses include Alex See, who had been Mr Huang's relationship manager, and Joanne Lee, then a forex trader.
The move means that HSBC will not be calling any evidence at all, and that the judge, Justice Belinda Ang, will have to decide based on the evidence already produced by the plantiffs.

Litigation against HSBC Private Bank Singapore

Dear blog readers, I'd like to apologise for the lack of update. Since the news had made it to the media, I'll share the extracts with you.

This week I took the witness stand at the Singapore High Court, and I believe the justice will prevail. This litigation caused me lots of pain in the past 4 years, but I fought it all the way through. I'd like to let you know that no matter what life throws at you, don't ever give up. Fight for the good and this is what I intend to keep on doing, no matter how long it will take.

HSBC Private Bank sued

A FAMILY of three from Taiwan is suing HSBC Private Bank for forcing them to close a foreign exchange trade on their US$24 million (S$37 million) investment account, which resulted in them suffering losses and being deprived of potential profits.

Mr Huang Po Jen, his mother Madam Chen Ling San, and his grandmother, Madam Chen Cheng Su Yun, are claiming about US$3 million in total.

The case opened in the High Court on Monday and is scheduled for 10 days.

Body Pump 69 isn't pornography but it is hotter than it sounds :) Lots of great tracks that you can sing along with, great choreography and the biceps track is short, intense and energetic, just like master Glen himself. Loved the shoulder track especially!

On 2 December 2004, I was murdered. I am no longer the same person I used to be.

Since then, it's been endless nights without daylight. I kept telling myself it's possibily a nightmare, but each breath I take reinforces the reality. It really happened, and it's the 1401th night since I've been standing at the edge of the abyss of despair.

The air is thin, the wind is cold and I am all alone here. I concluded that happiness is a luxury and emotions are unbearable.

But I was redefined by this scenery. I now realised that it's my opportunity to make a contribution to the humanity, to change it for the better.

I was lost, but now I am finally on the path to the end and the beginning.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for all your constant support. I've never imagined that I could find so many friendships via this page.

I also wish to apologize for the lack of updates. As you can see I am not keen on writing about myself & my personal life. I've been living by the principle that life is not about ourselves... and we should think more for the others.

However I've been troubled with some personal problems, and have come to a point that my mind is fully occupied by the issues. I feel sorry to my loyal readers because I know some of you visit regularly and would be disappointed when you don't see new updates. I've been considering closing down this blog but I can't really let go when I think of you guys.

It's 5am in the morning, cold and wet Auckland... why am I still awake? Because I know there are combatters waiting impatiently, dying to know about Body Combat 38 filming... how can I let you down? :) Even though I am sitting here naked after the shower, I'll keep writing till I am freezed to death :)

As title, there's no turning back for BodyCombat. For Release 38, we get a mixed bag of low and medium complexity tracks... my favs are T4 and T6 (note: picks of hardcore me). But the intensity is up there. I believe, T4 & T6 will definitely be all time classics.

Recently I've been doing more BodyPump classes and can testify the amazing benefits of the program - I can both feel and see the difference! Special thanks to Glen & Sarah Ostergaard and Matt Thraxton for all the encouragements.

BP67 is an awesome release, really liked the shoulder track! It sounds like a potential BC track to me? :) great atmosphere at the filming, it was fun doing classes with friends. Isn't it so Captain Hernan!

I also stayed for the BodyStep 72 filming.. it was probably my 5th BodyStep class in 6 years time... but managed to follow the moves thanks to the great cueing of Sarah, Lisa and Mark. Sarah your new hair style looks cool :D

BC37 filming is done! As you can see the pictures are foggy, it's not because of the quality of the pictures, but we had special effects by dry ice and lighting! I am sure the DVD will look amazing.

Be warned that BC37 is an addictive release. Over 2000 punches and hundreds of kicks... we'll have one of the most challenging & intense T4 and a T6 with different feel and focus.

The BIG Day

Some people are lucky enough to find someone who lights them up every day…

On March 8 2008 our family and close friends joined us on the edge of the world (literally) - on the west coast of the North Island, New Zealand - to share a very special day.

The sun shone and our hearts sang (my legs wobbled)!

Dan looked so beautiful and smart, standing there in his suit and tie, smiling back at me as my legs seemed to move of their own accord down to meet him! (I’ve experienced adrenaline before so many times but let me tell you, this was the crème de la crème of adrenaline. Grade A, make you move mountains kinda gear.)

Chris, our best man was by Dan's side. Little Jackson (Lisa O and Pita’s little boy) was our ‘little’ best man, and he carried the rings. Claire, our Maid of Honour, flew from the UK to be there too.

The day was perfect. This kind of high cannot be bought. We are blessed with it.

5.45 million of Taiwanese people lived a dream.

We believed that everyone living in Formosa shares the same love for our land. We also believed every single person would cherish the democracy and freedom earned by shedding tears and blood.

However, we were proven wrong. Some other people living in Taiwan do not appreciate our country; they also let the greed took over their mind, and forgot that things such as economy should never be established on the expenses of basic human rights and dignity. After the Taiwanese Presidential Election on 22 March 2008, the power was returned to a foreign political party which controlled Taiwan for over five decades by means of violence, despotism and autarchy.

The whole world ignores the existence of our small & precious island. Even United Nation shuts its door to Taiwan. We are not allowed to make any mistakes, but severe damage is done because the nation is handed back into the hands of the Chinese intruders who carried out the 228 Holocaust against Taiwanese people in 1947.

I hope this will not the end of our country and another chance will be given to Taiwan. Although the road would be rocky, we will walk against the wind, and swim upstream if we have to - because it's the fighting spirit of the Taiwanese people.

Singapore is a culturally diversed country and you can find attractions of different ethnic backgrounds while you visit. The Indian temples are amazing.. unfortunately I only took pictures from the outside.. should have taken pictures of the "God of Violent Death"!

Even the famous "lonely planet" travel guide mentioned this famous chicken rice in Singapore! The meat is fresh and tender.. the aroma of the rice is irresistable :) Remember to get there early and queue.. (my friend queued for 30 minutes to order..) this food stall closes once the chicken are sold out.

Also don't forget to try other stalls in "Maxwell Food Centre". This place is loved by food gurus.. you can enjoy great food without being harrassed by the "food pimps" (originated from Newton food square) -_-

Just came back from a trip to Singapore, the weather is hot over there (about 35 C) which is a big contrast with the winter in NZ... In the next few days I'll be uploading some pictures that I took during this trip. I'll start with the view from the balcony of the hotel. Swissotel Stamford in Singapore was once the highest hotel in the world. The view is stunning but I was disappointed with the facility and the standard of service...

New Zealand society is culturally diverse. 11% of the population is composed of Pacific Islanders, and in the past 15 years, they have been running the "Pasifika Festival" in Western Spring for annual celebration. The venture was divided into different sections according to the countries. People from Samoa, Niu, Cook Islands, Tonga etc were performing and introducing their distinctive foods. It's great of them not to forget their own roots even they've migrated to another country. I had a great day at the festival, everyone was friendly and the food was nice.

"What if you could live forever?"

Six years after "Requiem For a Dream", director Darren Aronofsky finally released another masterpiece - "The Fountain". This movie was set to be released in 2004, but was delayed due to change of the casts and also some budget constraints.

It doesn's matter how you interpret the plot - whether you think it is about the real life, a historical story and our subconsciousness... or you really see it as past, present, and the future... the message is that we can only be "reborn" once we have come to "acceptance".

This is definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen and finally it's screened in Auckland... at "Academy Cinema", a small cinema hidden under Auckland Library. Please go and check it out, it's a must see.

P.S. minimal computer graphical editing was used in this movie... all the effects you see are special effects created by chemical reactions! It's amazing... :)

This movie is a masterpiece.

Director Matthew Barney has been creating a series of "Drawing Restraint" since 1987, in which he plays a man wishing to break free and draw paintings on the ceiling of the room using different methods with added resistence...

Drawing Restraint 9, Shot in Nagasaki Bay Japan, illustrates all sorts of human's self-imposed resistences & restraints using metaphors such as culture, language, whale hunting, ceremonies and costumes... Even skin & flesh are restraints for Matthew Barnet and his partner Bjork to show their love & desires for each other... and you can witness the restraints being "removed".

Unfortunately, almost all of Matthew Barney's work are funded by a group of rich "art collectors" and classified as "art", rahter than movie... thereofore there will be no cinema & DVD releases... I was lucky to be able to watch this beautiful movie in 2005 Auckland International Film Festival.

Pohutukawa Tree

There're two tall trees in my garden that blossoms beautiful red flowers during the holiday season. I just found out that they are actually Pohutukawa trees. The flowers are just lovely and I took some pictures to share with you guys!

Pohutukawa flower from November to January with a peak in mid to late December (the southern hemisphere summer), with a brilliant crimson flower covering the canopy, hence their nickname the New Zealand Christmas Tree.

However Pohutukawa trees are under threat due to browsing by the brushtail possum introduced from Australia, which strip the trees of their leaves... I'll need to take better care of the endangered native trees in the garden!

Death Is Part of Life

At the age of 31, Japanese poet Miyata Minori was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her left breast removed in 2002 and in 2003, when she was informed that she didn't have long to live, she contacted photographer Araki Nobuyoshi and requested nude pictures of herself to be taken and published.

Miyata Minori commented:

"There is only one reason that I wanted my nude pictures to be taken. I wanted to let the whole world knows that even though I've lost part of my body, I am still a human. I am proud of all the scars left on my body, and all the pain and sadness I've been through. In other words, I hope my experience would give people the courage to keep on going in the journey of life."

My thought is: Death is not the opposite of life, but it is PART OF life. Only when we accept the destiny, we can enjoy the real freedom.

This road is reported to be the RICHEST street of New Zealand because some art collectors are living there :) Lots of the houses on this street costs more several millions New Zealand Dollars... but the view is indeed stunning. All the good parts of Auckland is fit into a small photo frame :) Isn't the second photo artistic, haha :)
